Township looking into buying defibrillators for fields
(by Kimberly Redmond - September 23, 2008)
At the Sept. 22 council meeting, River Vale Mayor Joe Blundo discussed the possibility of the township purchasing three defibrillators to be kept at sports fields in the township.
This discussion comes in the wake of the tragic deaths of two Bergen County high school football players last month. The deaths of Sean Fisher, 13 and Douglas Morales, 17 came within a day of each other. Fisher died following football practice due to an undetected heart condition, while Morales died from a head injury sustained during practice.
Blundo anticipates the devices being kept in yet-to-be-determined “secure but accessible areas” at the fields at the Grove, Ranges and Mark Lane.
